A heritage rooted in innovation
The Beaucastel story begins in 1549, when Pierre de Beaucastel acquired a plot of land in Coudoulet. The estate was acquired by the Perrin family through marriage in 1909, and five generations later, it remains under their stewardship. Far from resting on tradition, the Perrins have led the way in sustainable viticulture, adopting organic practices as early as 1950 and biodynamics in 1974, decades before these practices became mainstream. Today, their approach combines all 13 permitted grape varieties of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, with Mourvèdre playing a defining role in their flagship wines, including the renowned Hommage à Jacques Perrin.
Terroir and craftsmanship
Beaucastel’s vineyards are distinguished by galets roulés—large, rounded stones that retain heat and promote even ripening. This unique terroir, coupled with meticulous farming, yields wines of remarkable depth and longevity. Sustainability underpins every stage of production: natural composts, cover crops, and biodynamic preparations enhance soil health, while modern cellar innovations reduce energy use without compromising quality. These practices ensure that each vintage reflects the character of its origin, striking a balance between tradition and thoughtful progress.
