Wine and spirits storage

Our secure bonded warehouse is the perfect environment in which to keep your wine and spirits until you are ready to enjoy them. It is temperature-regulated, humidity-controlled, and, what’s more, everything stored with us is insured at replacement value for your peace of mind.

What does it cost to store items in your warehouse?

What does In Bond mean?

The term “In Bond” denotes that the wines or spirits have not yet incurred Duty or VAT charges. As a result, these items must be stored in a bonded warehouse. Our warehouse has received approval from HM Customs & Excise for In Bond storage, allowing you to securely store your items with us without the immediate obligation to pay Duty or VAT.

What are the benefits of storing In Bond?

Our climate-controlled warehouse will protect your wine or spirits from changes in temperature, humidity, light and movement. This allows your wine to mature in optimum conditions and your spirits to remain stable. Our expert team inspects every bottle of wine that comes into our warehouse, ensuring quality and provenance. All wines and spirits that are stored In Bond with us are insured at replacement value. Only In Bond wines can be sold with BBX so by storing your wines In Bond you have access to our fine wine exchange.

How do I withdraw my wines or spirits for delivery?

You can choose to have your In Bond wine delivered to you at any time. See our handy guide here . We can provide delivery to the UK and Internationally. Withdrawals of part cases are charged at £10 per product. You will need to pay the duty and VAT on any wines you withdraw. VAT is payable on the original purchase price of the wine not its current market value.

Can I transfer wines or spirits into your warehouse?

Any wines transferred to our warehouse must be In Bond and cases must be complete and in their original packaging. We can only accept wines from bonded warehouses in the UK that are registered with HM Revenue and Customs. There are different criteria for spirits. To learn more and begin the process, click here .

Please note, if you use FedEx, DHL, or UPS to move your wines and spirits into our bonded warehouse these couriers are unable to ship goods In Bond. As a result, any such shipments will be subject to import duty and taxes upon arrival, which you will have to pay.

How do I transfer wines or spirits to another bonded warehouse?

We can arrange to transfer your In Bond wine or spirits from the Berry Bros. & Rudd warehouse to another bonded warehouse. This won’t incur any Duty or VAT charges.

For all In Bond transfers, we will need the specific reference for your designated receiving warehouse in order to process the delivery. Please note, without this reference, we will not be able to organise delivery.

We offer two delivery options and one collection option:

Dedicated bonded transfer:

We will organise a dedicated delivery for a fee, which we calculate per transferred case based on the destination warehouse.

Consolidated bonded transfer:

Get in touch to find out the dates for our consolidated deliveries. Please note, this option can take up to 34 business days to complete.

Collection service:

You can arrange to have your cases collected from our warehouse. We charge an administration fee of £15 for the first case and £1 for each subsequent case.

Is there a minimum charge to store in your warehouse?

No, there is no minimum charge to store with us.

How should I pay my invoice?

We will send you an email with your Storage Invoice attached. You can use the link in the email to pay the invoice, or call us on 0800 280 2440. Alternatively, you can add the invoice funds here .

How do you charge for storage?

Storage costs are charged per case . This is based on a 9-litre case (12 x 75cl bottles). We will send you a yearly invoice, asking you to pay in advance for the total volume in litres stored with us, and pro-rata the price accordingly.
