A collaboration beyond borders
Racines is the result of a bold partnership between Burgundy’s Étienne de Montille and Brian Sieve and Champagne’s Rodolphe Peters. Their shared vision was to craft world-class Pinot Noir and Chardonnay outside the confines of France, while preserving the precision and elegance that define their heritage. They found their answer in California’s Santa Rita Hills—a cool-climate region shaped by ocean breezes and ancient soils, offering the perfect conditions for these noble varieties.
Crafting wines of purity and character
Every detail at Racines reflects a commitment to excellence. Pinot Noir undergoes whole-cluster fermentation and pigéage to build complexity and spice, while Chardonnay is grown on marine seabeds several miles from the ocean, lending energy and transparency. These techniques, honed over generations in Burgundy and Champagne, are adapted to meet the distinctive terroir of Santa Rita Hills, producing wines of remarkable finesse and individuality.
