Domaine Sérafin Père & Fils

This domaine was created after the Second World War by Stanislaus Sérafin, a Polish émigré who built it up by acquiring plots that had fallen out of favour. His son Christian made the wines from the late 1960s onwards, inheriting the estate in 1988. Christian established a particular style here, focusing on the marriage between certain coopers and individual terroirs – to the extent that all the wines above the standard Gevrey-Chambertin were aged entirely in new oak.

A legacy continued

Christian sadly passed away in 2025. Today, the domaine is run by the third generation: Karine (Christian’s daughter) and Frédérique (his niece), who have remained faithful to his techniques. The domaine has a superb array of old vines, which give sufficient intensity to match the élevage. Although they require patience until maturity is reached, these are outstanding wines in their own way.
