Tasting note

The nose is elegant and nuanced, unfolding with aromas of Meyer lemon, sun-ripened orchard fruit, and crushed stone, subtly accented by white flowers and a whisper of wet slate. The palate is finely sculpted and precise, marked by vibrant acidity, a refined saline undertone, and impressive depth through the mid-palate. A long, mineral-laced finish carries notes of citrus zest and flint, leaving a lingering sense of purity and tension.A superbly crafted dry Riesling that captures Trimbach’s signature finesse while showcasing the intensity and complexity imparted by old vines.

Critics reviews

Anne Krebiehl MW 94/100

The 2023 Riesling Vieilles Vignes was made from very old vines grown in the lieu-dit of Vorderer Hagenau, plus old vines from the Muehlforst site and Grand Cru Rosacker in Hunawihr. This shimmers with a golden hue in the glass, offering tender fern and tart apple scents. The next whiff adds a juicy, bright Mirabelle aroma. The palate is absolutely clean-cut, light and translucent. This has a crystalline quality and a sleek, svelte body that pushes it forward. An inherent coolness here rings and refreshes. The 2023 is exquisite. (Bone-dry)

About this wine

Alsace

Alsace

Although 50 percent of Alsace’s wine is still made by cooperatives, the region remains the source of some of the world's finest white wines. There are myriad reasons for this: its 47.5 degrees north latitude ensures high sunshine levels; its deep continental climate and diverse array of soil types; the cultural meticulousness of the local populace; and the choice of noble varieties such as Riesling, Pinot Gris and Gewürztraminer.
