2020 Alexandre Bain, Champ Couturier, Vin de France
- White
- Dry
- Full Bodied
- Sauvignon Blanc
Description
This vineyard has a stony topsoil and is located very close to the Grande Hates making similar gastronomic style wines with an oxidative twist. Indeed, Alexandre ages this in a way that encourages oxidation by topping up the 500-litre barrels only once every two to three months. He thinks that this cuvée makes the perfect pairing with spicy foods. As expected, the nose is very open and has a lovely bouquet of pear, white flower and ripe quince. The palate has a fresh backbone but a deep and full palate of ripe tropical fruits, honey and honeysuckle whilst retaining the Alexandre Bain bitterness trait. This is the smallest cuvée of the range. Complex, unique and gastronomic, if you tasted this blind you would never think it is a Sauvignon Blanc.
