The 2015 Riesling Schoelhammer Vendange Tardive, from the gray Triassic marls of the Schoenenbourg Grand Cru, was made with botrytized fruit. A touch of honeycomb on the nose is wrapped in smokiness, catching ripe peach and Mirabelle notes in its fine cloud of fumée. Later on, a hint of chamomile makes a deliciously heady appearance. The purest candied peach note emerges, guided and illuminated by lemon oil.
