Description
The Bruichladdich Distillery was built on the isle of Islay, off Scotland’s west coast, by Barnett Harvey in 1881. Its rich whisky heritage is clear to see in this fine dram. The nose is a rich autumnal bouquet, with bright top notes of clove and Seville orange, intertwined with ripe peach and apricot. Hints of rose petals and a soft vanilla sweetness from French oak add an elegant depth. With time, it reveals salted caramel and a mist of peat smoke.
On the palate, an oily and full-bodied texture delivers spicy smoke, sweet milk chocolate and a touch of cinnamon. The signature “Laddie” character is unmistakable, drying into notes of red fruit and a lingering sweetness. The finish brings ashy smoke, roasted nuts and a memory of rich chocolate. This complex and contemplative dram evokes the feeling of an autumn walk followed by a fireside read.
