Rockford Wines: Barossa Valley with winery buildings in the background.

Rockford Wines

Few wineries capture the spirit of the Barossa Valley quite like Rockford. Established in 1984 by Robert O’Callaghan, Rockford has become a benchmark for traditional winemaking in Australia. Working with long-standing growers and time-honoured methods, the estate produces wines that are deeply rooted in place: expressive, age-worthy, and unmistakably Barossa.

Heritage

Rockford was founded on a belief in preserving the character of the Barossa. Old vines, minimal intervention, and respectful farming are at the core of the estate’s philosophy, resulting in wines that speak clearly of their origins.

Winemaking

Fermentation in open slate tanks, basket pressing, and maturation in seasoned oak remain central to Rockford’s approach. These practices, while labour-intensive, bring texture, depth, and balance to the wines. Best known for the Basket Press Shiraz, Rockford also crafts a range of bottlings showcasing the Barossa's breadth. Each cuvée reflects meticulous attention to detail, offering authenticity over artifice.
