Dinner March 21st 2026

Description

A Dinner of Wild Lands and Rare Grapes celebrates the thrill of discovery – of indigenous grape varieties, remote hillsides, volcanic islands, high-altitude terraces and stubborn old vines that refuse to be tamed. Hosted in the intimacy of the Berry Bros. & Rudd Townhouse, this dinner brings together seven extraordinary wines and a bespoke four-course menu crafted to reveal their character and complexity.

The evening will begin with a Champagne reception. Though not an unfamiliar region, the Egly-Ouriet “Les Vignes de Vrigny” Extra Brut, celebrates the lesser-utilised Pinot Meunier grape variety. A wine of energy, precision and elegance it will set the tone for an evening devoted to the unexpected.

The first course pairs two whites born of extreme landscapes: 2023 Estate Argyros Assyrtiko from Santorini, a saline, bone-dry wine shaped by ancient vines and volcanic soils; and 2023 Colore Bianco by Bibi Graetz, a single-vineyard Ansonica from the island of Giglio, offering wild orchard fruit, mineral tension and effortless finesse.

Course two delves deeper into obscurity and altitude. 2024 Dominio del Pidio Albillo Mayor, from century-old vines in Ribera del Duero, brings textural richness and understated complexity; alongside 2022 Le Feu, Domaine du Gringet, a singular Savoie white grown on steep Alpine slopes, shimmering with wild alpine herbs, citrus lift and crystalline purity.

Our main course showcases two red wines forged in unforgiving terrain. 2019 Les Manyes, Terroir Al Límit, from the brutally hot Priorat region, unfurls with silken, red-fruited elegance and rugged, crushed rock minerality; while 2022 Occhipinti “Bombolieri BB”, from a tiny 1-hectare vineyard, offers luminous freshness, powdery tannins and captivating Mediterranean charm.

The evening concludes with a true treasure: 1977 Boal, Pereira d’Oliveira – a mature Madeira of profound sweetness and searing acidity, expressing notes of spice, caramel and burnished citrus.

An unforgettable celebration of rare grapes, wild places and the wines that could only be born there.
