The 2024 Riesling Lorcher Schlossberg Spätlese was made with fruit that was barely touched by botrytis. It is pale and bright in hue, with just a touch of peach on the nose. The palate is tenderly sweet, with lemony brightness and poise on a superbly light and slender body with subtle sweetness that is completely edged by lemon, a little like lemon sorbet. This is clear-cut, refreshing and supple but so bright. It comes with around 73 g/L of residual sugar. (Sweet).

The Spatlese category continues to be drastically underrated due to the whims of fashion, but this comes close to the maximum of finesse and filigree that a riesling Spatlese is capable of. Kaleidoscopic complexity of delicate floral, Amalfi lemon and Mirabelle plum aromas. Off-the-scale filigree in the super-long and refined finish. In spite of the high acidity, it is incredibly silky. Very limited production. From organically grown grapes. Vegan. Drink or hold.
