Critics reviews

Jane Anson 91/100
Vivid summery fruit character, with cheerful ruby red colour, with spice, freshly cut herbs, slate and graphite adding depth and interest. Lovely texture overall but needs a bit of time to soften, suggest four years before drinking. Harvest 24 September to 10 October. 3.62 pH. 26.42hl/ha

William Kelley 86-88/100
The 2024 Moulin Riche offers up aromas of cassis, cigar wrapper and oak, followed by a medium-bodied palate with a fleshy attack that segues into a somewhat angular and drying mid-palate and finish.
William Kelley, Wine Advocate (Apr 2025)
James Lawther MW 15.5/20

46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 15% Petit Verdot. Cask sample.

Reserved nose with just a hint of cassis. Delicate weight and frame but fine tannins. Slightly chewy finish.

Antonio Galloni 87-90/100

The 2024 Moulin Riche is laced with blackberry, mocha, licorice, new leather and chocolate. It offers good depth and persistence, but it's also afflicted by slightly angular contours, perhaps from the oak. Tasted two times.

Neal Martin 90-92/100

The 2024 Moulin Riche was picked between September 24 and October 10 and underwent some reverse osmosis, especially the Merlot. This has a more expressive bouquet than the preceding Pavillon de Léoville Poyferré, with iodine and blueberry unfolding in the glass. The palate is supple and fleshy on the entry with a smooth texture, quite polished tannins and a fresh, harmonious finish. This is much better than you'd think and well worth seeking out.

Shuai Zekun 93-94/100
A juicy, well-made St. Julien with pure dark berries, violets and a touch of graphite. Structured, this has medium to full body and tight-grained tannins. Firm and long in the finish.
Shuai Zekun, JamesSuckling.com (Apr 2025)
Jeb Dunnuck 91-93/100
Based on 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, and 15% Petit Verdot, the 2024 Château Moulin Riche delivers chocolaty red and black currants, scorched earth, chocolaty oak, and spice. Richly textured and medium-bodied on the palate, it shows a round, supple mouthfeel, well-managed tannins, and outstanding purity of fruit. The wine will spend 18 months in 25% new French oak.
Jeb Dunnuck, JebDunnuck.com (May 2025)
Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW 88-90/100
Deep garnet-purple in color. Features notes of fresh blackberries and just-ripe plums with hints of Sichuan pepper, forest floor, and potpourri. The light to medium-bodied palate is bright and breezy with just enough freshness and lightly chewy tannins, finishing savory.

About this wine

Saint-Julien

Saint-Julien

St Julien is the smallest of the ‘Big Four’ Médoc communes although, without any First Growths, it is recognised to be the most consistent of the main communes with many châteaux turning out impressive wines year after year. The wines can be judged as much by texture as flavour, and there is a sleek, wholesome character to the best. At their very finest they combine Margaux’s elegance and refinement with Pauillac’s power and substance.
