Tasting note

For our 2023 Nuits-St Georges, we’ve worked with Domaine Jean Chauvenet. The fruit comes from vines planted 40-90 years ago in the lieux-dits of La Charmotte, Aux Saints-Juliens and Aux Saints-Jacques. These venerable old plants give a wine of depth, complexity and balance, marrying spicy red and black fruit with a juicy freshness and sweet, chalky tannins.

A refined and floral expression of this famous village, this will pair well with grilled or roasted meats, aged cheeses and spiced dishes such as tagine.

Nuits-Saint-Georges

One part of the village vineyards forms a strip south of the town of Nuits. More vineyards are on the steeper top slopes, often with a touch of the north in their otherwise eastern exposure. On the other side of Nuits is a wider swathe of village vineyard below the main slope that’s populated by the Premiers Crus, as well as a narrow band at the top of the slope where there is barely any topsoil.
