From 35-year-old Carignan vines grown on a steep vineyard opposite the winery at 450 m on limestone. Marked diurnal range. Whole-cluster fermentation and gentle extraction in concrete. Alex Sichel on Languedoc Carignan: 'We have produced bad Carignan but I’m really happy with this, which was picked at just the right time.'

Deep crimson. Very sweet and ripe on the nose. Not at all acrid. Ripe and spicy. So gentle! Amazing! Such vitality. Salty and sappy. A miracle eye-opener! One of the best Carignans I have ever tasted. So appetising. Miraculously luscious. (JR)
