Description

This is a special bottling of domaine-owned vines planted in 1950. Bottled exclusively in magnum, Ben has three 300-litre barrels in 2023, of which one is new. The berries are small and concentrated, giving a more pronounced expression than the standard bottling. There is a mealy note to the nose, along with restrained, elegant pear fruit. There is weight, density and grip on the palate, with fresh fruit and citrussy acidity cutting through.

From their own vines. Currently oakier than the regular bottling, but there is the concentration of fruit needed to manage that, and the wine has now been racked on its lees to tank for the rest of its elevage. Significantly concentrated on the palate, everything in place, concentrated white orchard fruit, with excellent persistence. Very good indeed. This will be bottled in magnum format only with drinking dates adjusted for that).
