2023 Bourgogne Dijon, Maison Gautheron d'Anost

Description

This is the first vintage for Bastien’s Dijon-denominated Bourgogne – not something you see every day, but hopefully becoming more common as the appellation becomes recognised. The grapes come from a plot called Les Prés Chandois, planted in 2017. It is located on Le Cras, an east-facing plateau overlooking Lac Kir; it contains high limestone content. This has an elegant nose with notes of beeswax, ripe citrus and stone fruit. The palate has lovely salinity. This is balanced, approachable and enjoyable.

This is distinct from the more geographically precise village-level, Premier Cru and Grand Cru designations. The two most common Bourgogne-level wines are Bourgogne Blanc (“White Burgundy”) and Bourgogne Rouge (“Red Burgundy”).
