Description

This is one of Santenay’s most prestigious vineyards, situated close to the Chassagne border. Simon uses 10% whole-bunch fermentation and 10% vinification intégrale, a form of barrel-fermentation. The nose is really expressive, with spicy cherry fruit and a gently smoky character. The tannins are very fine, with nothing harsh or green. There is good structure here; this is a serious Santenay.

Critics reviews

Jasper Morris MW 89-91/100
10% whole bunch, one third new wood, vinified in the barrel. A fresh ruby purple, with a notably lifted bouquet. Is it the terroir or the vinification? Much more finesse to the fruit on the raspberry strawberry cusp. Simon thinks the vinification intégrale, when the wines are vinified in barrels rather than vats, takes away any rustic tannins, and the aftertaste is certainly very fine.
