Critics reviews

Elizabeth Gabay MW 91/100

Pale salmon pink. This is still very youthful, with delicate aromas of peach and redcurrant. On the palate, the intense concentrated fruit of the hot, dry vintage dominates the wine and has allowed Galoupet’s estate director Mathieu Meyer to increase the amount of oak used to balance and enhance the fruit profile, making this wine much more structured than the 2022.

The bitter sweet acidity of pink grapefruit, firm, dry phenolics, concentrated dark berries and minerality, make this more of a gastronomic rosé than a simple quaffing wine, and one that reflects the schistous terroir. Still a little gawky, this needs a few months more age for the different elements to pull together and indicate good ageing potential.

About this wine

Côtes de Provence

Côtes de Provence

Reputedly the source of Louis XIV’s favourite wines, Côtes de Provence lies in the south-east of Provence and overlaps with the Var department. Eighty percent of its production is dry rosé wine, distinguished by an inimitable pale-pink colour and elegant flavours. Cinsault and Grenache dominate in the region’s rosés, augmented with the occasional dash of the local, intensely aromatic Tibouren.
