2023 Condrieu, Corbery, Mouton Père & Fils, Rhône

The domaine’s newer addition, the Corbery cuvée comes from a plot of five-year-old vines and is vinified and matured entirely in a concrete egg. The result is an astonishingly fine and elegant wine with beautiful freshness and purity – leaner than Bonnette and proving a pure and elegant expression of Viognier. Aromas of white peach, pear and jasmine emerge with a fine-boned and precise palate. The absence of oak allows its vibrant acidity and crystalline fruit to shine, while a subtle saline note lingers on the finish. This is a graceful, focused Condrieu, showcasing remarkable freshness and finesse, making it a compelling contrast to the more opulent expressions of the appellation.
