Description
Au Vignerais is a large 18-hectare vineyard under the Roche de Solutré. The Merlins have 0.35 hectares here, at 350 metres’ altitude, facing south-east; their parcel is next to that of the Brets at Domaine de la Soufrandière. The altitude lends some austerity here, with a cool, crisp nose of green apples and white fruits. It is clean, delicious and refreshing. There’s some weight and structure to it, but there’s a taut, fresh feel throughout.
