Description
Blend: 67% Merlot; 30% Cabernet Franc; 3% Cabernet Sauvignon.
It is worth remembering that Nénin is owned by the Delon family of Ch. Léoville Las Cases. That, and its very individual terroir, means Nénin stands out stylistically from the Pomerol mainstream. There is always a high proportion of Cabernet Franc here, with a little Cabernet Sauvignon for the first time in 2023.
The wine is rich with mulberry fruits. It is also floral, with rose and liquorice notes. The palate is full without being too weighty and there is a pleasant sapid, sour-cherry edge to the finish. This is a most interesting wine, perhaps a little more introspective than some of this year’s Pomerols.

Critics reviews
67% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. 46 hl/ha. Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend for the first time. Cask sample.
Elegant floral fragrance. Long, linear and precise. Structured but tannins well integrated. Quite a bit of acidity and tension. Needs a bit of time to knit. Very much in line with the house Delon) style.
Drink 2029 - 2040
The 2023 Nenin was picked September 9 to 28 at 46hL/ha and matured in 40% new oak for a planned 16 months, including 7% vin de presse. It is the first vintage including 3% Cabernet Sauvignon from a parcel located near Trotanoy. There is quite an attractive marine/sea spray element in the aromatics that lends freshness, certainly elevating it above the Fugue. The palate is medium-bodied with a fresh entry and fine acidity, quite saline in the mouth with a liberal sprinkling of black pepper on the finish.
Drink 2027 - 2042
The 2023 Nenin is deep garnet-purple in color. Notes of black cherry compote, mulberries, and anise jump from the glass, with underlying hints of Indian spices and menthol. The medium-bodied palate is plush and juicy, with well-knit freshness and bags of youthful black and blue fruits, finishing on a savory note.
The blend is 67% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon. The alcohol is 13.39%.
Drink 2028 - 2042
The 2023 Nénin is a classy wine that marries power with nuance. Cabernet Franc plays a prominent role here, and that comes through in its aromatic presence and overall feel. There's also a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, which no doubt contributes to the wine's profile as well. Rose petal, mocha, spice, licorice, leather and cedar are all laced together in this powerhouse Pomerol. I can't wait to see where this goes.
Drink 2027 - 2043
The 2023 Nenin is very attractive, bursting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, dark berries, rose petals and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and supple palate that's pure and sensual, with a succulent core of fruit, sweet tannin and an immensely charming profile that promises a broad drinking window.
Blended with 3% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2023 Château Nenin is rocking stuff, offering a terrific array of black cherries, graphite, plums, chocolate, and tobacco, with some classic Pomerol damp earth notes. It's lively, medium to full-bodied, balanced, and elegant, with beautiful tannins.
67% merlot, 30% cabernet franc and 3% cabernet sauvignon.
A linear and structured red with blackberry, raspberry and a hint of crushed stone. Medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a long, intense finish. Crunchy and minerally. Classy. Precise.
Mocha, blood orange, creamy ripe damson and black fruits, a swirl of peony flowers, succulent but without being heavy, this is a great Nenin, showing potential of the property's 20 year old Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, used in the blend for the first time in this vintage.
40% new oak for ageing, 46hl/h yield, 3.68ph. Pomerol estate owned by the Delon family of Léoville Las Cases.
