Critics reviews

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW 89-91/100

The 2023 La Garde Blanc features bright, shiny scents of lemon drops, fresh pineapple, and green mango followed by hints of cedar and coriander seed. The light to medium-bodied palate has a crisp backbone and plenty of citrus and tropical fruit layers, finishing on a steely note.

The 2023 La Garde Blanc has a very pretty and generous bouquet with apple blossom, freshly sliced pear and subtle tropical notes that remain in the background, all nicely delineated. The palate is medium-bodied with fine concentration, well-integrated oak and hints of white peach and kaki fruit on the finish. Delicious!

A blend of 91% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Sémillon, the 2023 La Garde Blanc offers up a lively, fresh bouquet of pear, white peach, spring flowers and lemongrass. Medium-bodied, round and incisive with an enveloping core of fruit, it's fresh and balanced, concluding with a mouthwatering, long finish.

The 2023 La Garde Blanc is gorgeous. Sauvignon Blanc on limestone drives this sculpted dry white. Lemon confit, white pepper, apricot and tangerine peel build in the glass. Lees-stirring helps build texture to play off the wine's salivating acid profile.

Reflective green gold, fragrant white flower aromatics, this has lime zest and lift, widening to preserved citrus through the mid palate, fresh acidities and salinity on the finish, good stuff.

I like the layered texture to this, with fruit and light phenolics, as well as bright acidity. Medium body. Lemon-rind and fresh-apple character at the end. Excellent finish.

About this wine

Pessac-Léognan

Pessac-Léognan

In 1986 a new communal district was created within Graves, based on the districts of Pessac and Léognan. Pessac-Léognan has the best soils of the region, very similar to those of the Médoc, although the depth of gravel is more variable, and contains all the classed growths of the region. Some of its great names, including Ch. Haut-Brion, even sit serenely and resolutely in Bordeaux's southern urban sprawl.
