Description

After an entire decade of not being able to source fruit from the much-loved Talley Vineyard, the team at ABC has come back with a bang with this absolutely brilliant 2023 Rosemary’s Pinot Noir. Sweet strawberry and raspberry aromas drift up from the glass, edged with some darker blackberries. There is a beautiful floral lift here, reminiscent of fine potpourri, alongside a top note of strawberry coulis.

The palate is so scented, lifted and floral, yet is mouthcoating and singing with energy all at the same time. The wine just bursts with a stone-rock minerality alongside the earthy, fresh hedgerow fruit. It is somehow crisp and vibrant despite the weight of fruit and flavour. All is perfectly poised and in balance on the long, morello cherry-infused finish. Sensational.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Talley Vineyard Rosemary's was done mostly in 350-liter barrels. It's so expressive and absolutely delicious, defined by dark berry fruit, inner floral tones and real mineral edge. Salty, irony, marine-like nuances emerge with air. This is an exceptionally balanced effort that stands out for its textural harmony and approachability. The 2023 is all class.

From a cooler site on the northern edge of the Arroyo Grande Valley, the 2023 Pinot Noir Talley Vineyard Rosemary's is 100% Pinot Noir that was completely destemmed and aged 18 months in new 350-liter and 228-liter French oak barrels. Medium ruby-hued, it offers spicy red and black cherries, savory flowers, and black tea-driven aromatics. Medium-bodied and balanced on the palate, it has fine tannins, juicy yet integrated acidity, and outstanding length. This classy, complex, nuanced Pinot Noir will keep for 10-12 years.
