Description

Bitouzet-Prieur’s holding in Taillepieds is next to Domaine de Montille’s celebrated plot. The 0.7-hectare site contains vines planted in 1971 and 1988, with shallow soils on top of limestone. This is elegant on the nose with darker fruit, flowers and plenty of minerality. On the palate there is a smokier edge underpinning the fruit. While this is structured, with good density of fruit, it still shows a pretty, floral character. The limestone soils give the wine a long, fresh finish.

Jasper Morris MW 91-94/100
A bright mid purple. Here the nose is a little fresher, almost a suggestion of whole bunches coming from a light reduction, since François always destems. A recent sulphur addition has tightened this up but the quality of the fruit bursts through. Red fruit with wild strawberries. Very persistent, Taillepieds is a cut above.
