Description

This is a flagship wine for Ben. It comes from a high, 2.2-hectare vineyard; Ben has access to 1.5 hectares. There are some 60-year-old vines here, giving some concentration to the wine. The nose is elegant and restrained, not showy. There are cool pear and melon notes along with a stony, chalky note. In the mouth there is substance, but it is angular and crisp. The finish is long, spicy and delicious. Ben used a combination of vessels here including an egg-shaped foudre and a Wineglobe.

A mix of their own vines and others. This has exactly the limestone feel to the nose that one hopes for, with elegance rather than too much of a stony feel, picked on 4th September, the first day of the real heatwave. Fuller finish, with plenty of energy.
