Description

This is always a strong performer, with some vines reaching their centenary. There is a vibrant red berry lift to the nose, along with some subtle floral touches. Despite the vineyard’s proximity to Pommard, Paul has managed to avoid any rusticity in the wine. In fact, it’s very elegant, with just a hint of blood orange and dark chocolate on the finish to suggest its origin. This has 30% whole-bunch and 45% new oak.

Jasper Morris MW 88-91/100
A fresh vivid ruby purple. Picking started here, two days before the Clos yet with evident ripeness. The palate boasts plums and squishy ripe cherries, not too dry behind, but there is an element of 2020 here. Still fine, a touch lower in acidity but adequate, 13.6%.
