Description

David’s vines were planted in 1962. The vines sit on limestone on the lower part of the hill, facing south at 265 metres’ altitude. There is 20-25% whole bunch here. The wine was aged in 228-litre oak barrels for 12 months, then a further five months in stainless steel. This has vibrant dark fruits with freshness and power. It is nicely accessible young, with lush tannin and floral undertones, but this wine can always improve with a couple of years’ ageing.

Jasper Morris MW 90-92/100
Dense purple, one of the darker colours despite 20-25% whole bunch. No millerandage for once. The bouquet is not immediately forthcoming, but more in red fruit, with a fine sweet raspberry with excellent balance right across the palate. Not too concentrated but fine.
