2023 Bourgogne Aligoté, Comte Armand

Description

This cuvée is made from vines in Pommard and Volnay and some 90-year-old vines in Meursault. Around one-third was made and aged in steel tank, with just over one-half in 600-litre demi-muids and the remainder in a 400-litre ceramic vessel. As ever, this is a benchmark Aligoté, combining breadth and bite, with a peachy mid-palate and a saline, oyster shell finish.

Jasper Morris MW 88-90/100
From various plots below Volnay, Pommard and Meursault. Pale with a green tint. A much more classic bouquet, the volume did not escape sensible limits, this is lovely and lively on the palate as well. 20% has been made in ceramics, otherwise demi muid for the most part. Excellent persistence, one of my favourite examples this year.
