Description

The origins of the plant material for this 100% Pinot Blanc were cuttings from the Henri Gouges mutation of Pinot Noir (known as Pinot Gouges). The vines are now approaching 50 years old. Half the wine is raised in new 400-litre barrels, with the balance in second-fill barrel and a 400-litre elongated ceramic amphora. The bouquet shows lots of acacia and honey as usual, but there is also a lovely freshness this year.

The crop has been made half in barrel and half in Clayvers, two x 400-litres of each. Very lifted for Pinot Gouges, excellent aromatics, lemon scented with a bit of lime behind. Just a little more weight at the back of the palate. Not super concentrated but a fine long finish with a nutty note.
