Description

This remains one of the standout wines in the range because of what Jean-Pierre achieves from what seem like simple origins. He is assisted by very old vines, planted in 1915. The bouquet is gentle, not assertive and without any sense of effort. The palate is smooth yet with depth. The fruit is very red – cranberry, strawberry and raspberry – but the salinity created by Jean-Pierre’s techniques bounces the wine to another level.

Jasper Morris MW 90-93/100
A huge amount was rejected on the sorting table, 14 barrels worth deselected against 30 barrels made. Typical Guyon fanaticism. An even purple colour, redcurrant and dark raspberry, the whole bunches are better integrated here than in the Bourgogne, with an incredible red fruit sensuality. 15% new wood. Superb balance.
