Description

This is from 1.28 hectares, planted in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Twenty percent was aged in barrel, with the majority in tank. It’s a little closed initially, but it opens with air to reveal and distinctive and pure lemon-confit character. The finish has spicy oyster-shell notes and a lingering, zesty freshness.

Jasper Morris MW 89-92/100
The sample was made up half and half between the wood and tank components but the final wine will have just 20% of barrel aged Montmains. It is certainly too oaky at the moment but still with a mineral crunch behind. This may well find its 4th star when retasted next summer.
