Description

The Bessins have just over two hectares here, with the oldest part planted in 1947. In what is a very sunny site, the Bessins have made an incredibly mineral wine. Remarkably tight and focused, with just a hint of peach fruit, there is the sense of reserve and fluidity here. In time, this will fill out; for the moment it is tightly wound. The class and refinement are already in place, however.

Allen Meadows 91-94/100

Firm reduction renders an evaluation of the nose impossible today. More interesting are the fresh, impressively dense, especially for the vintage, and powerful larger-scaled flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract on the palate soaking, youthfully austere and tightly wound finale. This is very promising and a wine that should amply repay a decade, perhaps even a bit more, of keeping.

Pale colour, very oaky, a wealth of fruit behind, not too exotic, a well-balanced thread of kimmeridgian marine character behind and very good persistence. Embryonic, yet promising.
