Description

Called after the old name for Cucugnan in the wilds of Corbières, where the late Bordeaux sage established an outpost. Syrah with Grenache and Carignan treated to Bordeaux refinement.

Cucuniano is the ancient name of the village of Cucugnan. Made from 44% Syrah, 36% Grenache and 20% Carignan, this is a village blend from mostly south-facing vineyards on mountain slopes at 400 metres’ elevation. The beautifully herbal nose is framed by hedgerow berries; the palate is moreish yet delicate, like a summer pudding with mint and herbs. Chalky tannins linger and then resolve on the refreshing, juicy but restrained finish.
