Description

The 2022 Hillcrest Road Chardonnay has a fine, fresh nose of ripe lemons with a twist of nectarine and hints of sourdough toast with a sea salt lift. The palate is incredibly sophisticated, with more layers of lemon mingling, stone pebble minerality, and supreme freshness. The purity of the fruit profile is really quite exquisite here, with a fabulous zesty depth that makes this all so invigorating. The vibrant finish lingers, leaving the palate refreshed for another sip.

Now, this is the style of chardonnay I love to drink: no shortage of flavour with fine acidity reining everything in, yet the finish lingers and lingers. Beautifully composed with ginger spice and blossom, lemon and limes, lemon curd and woodsy spices, just a smidge as everything is in balance. It’s moreish, savoury and mouth-watering. Fabulous now and will garner more complexity in time.
