2022 Chablis, Fourchaume, 1er Cru, Famille Grossot, Burgundy

Description

Eve feels that her organic methods have made this wine more mineral over the last four or five years, yielding a wine of greater tension and finesse than is the norm in Fourchaume. It’s also made in tank to prioritise fruit and freshness. The result is a fine, mineral wine marrying the site’s natural opulence with a surprising verticality.

Critics reviews

Allen Meadows 90-93/100

From Vaupoulent

A discreet hint of wood influence easily allows the ripe yet cool aromas of citrus confit, oyster shell, petrol and a floral nuance to be appreciated. Once again, there is impressive richness, volume, mid-palate density, and the relatively powerful flavours that coat the palate with dry extract on the focused, balanced, and sneaky long finale. This lovely wine should repay up to a decade of keeping.

About this wine

Fourchaume

Fourchaume

Winemaking in La Fourchaume, a prestigious Premier Cru vineyard in Chablis, involves meticulous processes to capture the essence of its terroir. The southeast-facing slope ensures optimal sun exposure for the Chardonnay grapes. The Kimmeridgian limestone soils with fossils contribute distinct mineral flavours. Stainless steel fermentation preserves freshness, while ageing highlights the grape's natural attributes.
