2022 Tensley, Tensley Vineyard Syrah, Santa Barbara County, California, USA

Description

Do not be confused by “estate wine”. This is one of the top wines from Tensley estate. Made from vines close to the home of Joey. A great intensity of dark fruits with pronounced blackberry, blackcurrant and a splattering of red fruit. This balance lifts the fruit profile with beautiful pepper and sweet spice. Lovely acidity keeps the wine driven and lifted. The tannins are ripe and mouth coating, making them entirely lovely. This balance, lift and power make this wine entirely enjoyable and engaging. They will age beautifully, helping to turn this into something very special.

Critics reviews

Jeb Dunnuck 95-97/100

Coming from vines just outside of Tensley's house, the 2022 Syrah Tensley Vineyard is another complex, full-bodied, incredibly compelling wine from this estate. Blackberries, blueberries, peppery spice, black tea, and floral notes all give way to a medium to full-bodied, concentrated red that stays nicely focused and precise on the palate, with fine tannins, and a good spine of acidity.
