Description

The 2022 Zaca Mesa Syrah is an absolute joy. Bright top notes of ripe cherry on the nose with a savoury undertone of garrigue and peppery spice. The palate is sumptuous and elegant. Deeply satisfying, it is awash with rich red fruits, clove, and has a stony quality that makes light of its power and full body. This is incredibly pure and vibrant, showing superb balance and has a length that goes on and on.

The 2022 Syrah Zaca Mesa Vineyard is superbly elegant, especially for the year. Dark blue/purplish fruit, liquorice, spice, leather and dried herbs all grace this super-expressive Syrah. Even in the warm, dry 2022, the Zaca Mesa Syrah remains pretty aromatic and light on its feet.

Joey Tensley sources fruit from some of the most historic vineyards in Santa Barbara for this collection of wines. It's an interesting idea, especially as history can be pretty fleeting in a region where vineyards are continually being replanted and, in the most extreme cases, being converted to other crops. Tensley fans will find plenty to like.
