Description

A new addition to Matteo’s already impressive lineup this year is the Ovello. This is the largest MGA in the Barbaresco comune but Matteo’s smallest parcel — just a 0.25-hectare of 55-year-old vines. The fruit here enjoys a slow maturation, with a southwest exposure, being picked one day before Montestefano, which is always last. This has beautiful complexity, with a refined and cool blue-fruit character intertwined with an earthy and waxy depth. Only 1,600 bottles were produced.
