Tasting note

This is a deeply textured wine – think along the lines of Viognier but with fresher acidity. Thanks to the efforts of Walter Massa and other like-minded souls in the 1990s, the Timorasso grape variety was thankfully brought back from the brink of extinction. An exciting variety indigenous to Piedmont, it is beautifully honeyed and slightly floral with a kiss of dried rosemary and thyme.

All this is complemented by a fresh lemony lift and a grapefruit-peel bitterness – a signature to so many Italian whites. Although you might think so upon trying, this wine sees no oak influence; all its richness is naturally derived from the grape variety. This is a true beauty to explore.

Brilliant straw. Rich, but subdued nose of waxy quince fruit that seems almost a little dreamy on the nose. Surprisingly cool on the palate for this torrid vintage, with hints of quince and pink-grapefruit notes. Still very young. Lemon and pink-grapefruit twist on the finish. Fantastic balance. Great potential.
