2022 Saumur Blanc, Le Bourg Brézé, Domine Guiberteau, Loire

Isolated by Romain in 2021 to be its own label, he owns a 1.25h parcel of this prized vineyard, the same as the famed red Bourg from the likes of Rougeard and Sanzay. Except Romain decided that he would best represent the terroir here through Chenin and not Cabernet Franc. The nose is quite shy here at first but slowly evolves to exhibit lovely notes of peach, apricot, and white flowers.

Always on the fruitier side than its older brother Breze, this 2022 Bourg has outstanding tension, which is reinforced by a good salinity and wet stone on the palate. The palate is grand but still retains much finesse and has a lovely finish of white pepper.
