2022 Gevrey-Chambertin, Cuvée de Très, Vieilles Vignes, Arnaud Mortet, Burgundy

From En Champs, Combe de Dessus and Aux Echézeaux that contain vines up to 120 years old.

 A super-fresh nose reflects plenty of sauvage and newly turned earth nuances on the wild red currant scents. There is excellent density to the supple yet powerful and compact medium-bodied flavors that display impressive length on the mildly rustic, serious and well-balanced finale. Excellent quality here.

Drink 2032

The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Très Vieilles Vignes comes from 80 to 100-year-old vines from three lieux-dits, including 60% whole bunches with the main stem removed manually and 30% new oak. The very well-defined nose offers lavender-tinged black fruit, potpourri and white pepper. The palate is well-defined with crisp tannins, a mélange of red and black fruit and a healthy sprinkling of white pepper on the finish. Excellent.

Drink 2027 - 2042

Three plots of 70 to 120-year-old vines, the oldest in En Champs, make up the Très Vieilles Vignes cuvée. It is 50% whole bunch vinified of the pedicel variety. It is mid-purple with a lifted bouquet, very floral on the nose, and ahead of the fruit. There is also a saline note, adding complexity and a touch of liquorice. This wine will take time to come together, but it will be very rewarding when it does.
