Description

As the name would suggest, Les Charmes is the most immediately expressive, deliciously supple and generous of the Joguet Chinons. It is medium-bodied, elegant and silky on the palate, with a succulent richness to the fruit. There is a serious side to it though, with crisp tannins that will give good medium-term cellar potential. This is the Joguet to savour while you wait for your Clos de Chene and Clos de la Dioterie.

About this wine

Chinon

Chinon is an important Cabernet Franc appellation that, at around 2,500 hectares, represents a slightly larger zone than its neighbour Bourgueil. Part of the appellation possesses light, sandy gravel soils to give an easy drinking style, while the remainder is blessed with a tuffeau subsoil from which the wines draw a finer structure and longevity. Neither style approaches the fullness of Bourgueil.
