Description

The Brets consider this their most prized cuvée but it did not attain the Premier Cru status they had hoped for – some shortcomings of the new classification, perhaps. Recently added to the Zen range, the plot is north facing on the Roche de Vergisson, a great advantage in warmer years. This has great precision and complexity on the nose.

From a .7 ha parcel in Prissé.

This is also so firmly reduced that nothing is discernible. The powerful and serious larger-bodied flavours on the palate possess an outstanding concentration, though not nearly the same minerality. All this is wrapped in a borderline aggressively citrus-inflected finish that might be a bit too much for some palates. Even so, this, too, is very good, and I suspect that the citrus character will attenuate with time in the bottle.
