Description

This is more (nearly half) whole bunch than the very appealing villages Santenay. It’s more lifted too and really very impressive with an array of flavours that keep on giving. Santenay has regained its fine reputation with growers like Simon Colin.

Jasper Morris MW 89-91/100

Mostly guyot trained vines, rather than the more usual cordon for reds in this part of the Côte. 45% whole bunch vinification. Clear fresh pinot of quality, lifted a little by the whole bunches. A little chocolate note in with the pure red berry fruit, but this is a genial, graceful wine with a good long finish.

Here, there is just enough reduction to knock down the fruit, though I doubt it will last. More interesting are the impressively dense and mineral-driven medium-weight flavours that also brim with evident minerality on the serious, moderately austere and even firmer finish. This is very good and worth a look, provided you have at least some patience.
