Description
Les Coutones has marl soils, which locals refer to as “terres amoureuses” because they stick to your boots when wet. The parcel is south facing, mirroring the exposition of the famous Monts Damnés vineyard in Chavignol. The clay soil here rarely suffers from drought stress; a real benefit in a warm vintage such as 2022. Made in 85% oak foudre and 15% amphora, this is a rounded, elegant expression of Sancerre. It’s sophisticated, with some spice notes and an enveloping, creamy finish. It’s fresh, too, and restrained for the vintage at just 13%.

Critics reviews
The 2022 Les Coutones hails from a clay-limestone, south-facing slope in a warm, dry season, which creates a ripe and full wine. However, it keeps its freshness and brightness, which leaves you wanting more.
