Description

This vineyard is to the west of Savigny, and this monopole parcel is surrounded by a 2.5-metre wall. There is a high limestone content, unusual in the otherwise sandy Savigny. This gives a zippy freshness that pairs neatly with the ripe, white peach fruit, giving a tense, tight and precise finish.

Primarily Chardonnay with about 30% Pinot Blanc.

The Pinot Blanc in the blend is in evidence as there is a touch of exoticism in the form of melon and pear compote. The fleshy, round and generous medium-weight flavours tighten up on the clean, crunchy and nicely dry finale, where a bead of minerality adds a sense of lift. Even so, this is destined to be enjoyed young.

8 barrels made as they now have two sections of the vineyard. Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay complanted, with around 30% of the former. Mid lemon yellow, quite rich on the nose, with a little oak. Pretty intense, with a good thread of acidity. Plenty going on, a wine of character.

The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune Blanc Clos de Village, which contains around 30% complanté Pinot Blanc in the vineyard, has a delightful bouquet with lemon curd and vanilla pod, an underlying mineralité developing with time. The palate is well-balanced with a peachy opening and generous with veins of apricot towards the creamy-textured finish. Delicious.
