Bottled before the harvest, this wine is mid-purple in colour and has a fresh yet softly perfumed cherry and raspberry nose. It has really lovely fruit, which is very appetising, though still with some ruder tannins behind. It has good acidity and lively fresh red fruit throughout.

A ripe, spicy and peppery nose reflects notes of both red and dark berry fruit that are trimmed in subtle earth nuances. The succulent, round and punchy middleweight flavours possess reasonably good detail on the moderately rustic, complex and firm finale. This is really quite good for what it is and a wine that could either be enjoyed after only 3 to 4 years or held for up to a decade if desired.

Chassagne-Montrachet
When it comes to the world's greatest white wines, the border between Chassagne and Puligny is the treasure at the end of the rainbow. Within a few hundred metres lie five wonderful Grands Crus, three of which are in Chassagne. They are led by the luscious Le Montrachet, to which Chassagne gained permission in 1879, along with Puligny, to hyphenate its name.
