Tasting note

Beautifully poised and perfumed layers of red orchard fruit, cherries, red apple and hint of rose petal.  Alive and yet composed at the same time this is a lovely Pinot, on the palate the perfect blend of tannin and acidity gives this wine a delicate and yet focused expression.  Lacy, filigreed details of tea leaf, red fruit, hint of crushed pink peppercorn.  Lovely length – a wine that sits perfectly on the palate.  A very pretty and yet nuanced Pinot noir. Highly recommended.

Critics reviews

Erin Larkin 95/100
The 2022 Burn Cottage Vineyard Pinot Noir is light and fine, with a delicate array of cherry, strawberry, red apple and freshly pressed linen notes. Woven throughout is sweet tobacco, graphite, white tea and finely ground pink peppercorns. In the mouth, the acidity works with the tannins to penetrate the palate with flavor, and it has an ethereal quality to it, which marks it as distinctly different from the Sauvage Pinot Noir. This is an eminently pretty Pinot Noir and comes highly recommended. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.

Perfumed and fragrant aromas of dark cherries, blackberry bushes, spices, wet bark and rose petals. The palate is medium-bodied with firmly integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving notes of redcurrants, wild raspberries, citrus peel and lead pencil. Refined and pure with an underlying power and tension. Drink or hold.

About this wine

Central Otago

Central Otago

Central Otago, the world’s most southerly wine region, has become synonymous with Pinot Noir, which has striking character and depth. First recognised for its potential in 1895 by Italian viticulturalist Romeo Bragato, the region has since transformed into one of New Zealand’s most celebrated wine landscapes. Today, Pinot Noir accounts for around three-quarters of its vineyards, a testament to the grape’s affinity with the land and Central Otago's global reputation for producing wines of power, purity, and poise.
