Description
As with many of Marc Olivier's wines, only destemmed fruit is used for this wine. The nose is fresh and vibrant with wonderful notes of strawberry and cranberry. There is a freshness reminiscent of wet stone. It is a similar affair on the palate with a brilliant crunchiness to the vibrant red fruits. It finishes long and pure.

Critics reviews
The 2022 Pernand-Vergelesses Les Vergelesses 1er Cru has the highest alcohol this vintage at around 14.2%. It has a generous raspberry and crushed strawberry nose with a touch of spice in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, with good grip, firm tannins, and a dab of black pepper with dark berry fruit mixed with graphite on the finish. Fine.
Drink 2024 - 2032
Bright purple, with plenty of energy to the rich raspberry and cherry fruit, flirts with volatility and decides against, then a slightly firm finish, a little abrupt at the moment, so could use more elevage.
Drink 2027 - 2032
This forward, approachable wine boasts bright blackberry fruit with hints of peony and spice. The texture is supple and silky, but the wine has a core of substance that hints that it should age gracefully. The grapes are from vines planted in 1967 at the base of the east-facing slope below Ile des Vergelesses; they are 100% destemmed before a gentle fermentation on native yeasts before ageing in cask 20% new).
