Description

This vineyard came via Marc-Olivier’s mother’s side (the Pavelots). It sits on the western edge of the road from Beaune to Savigny. To Marc-Olivier’s chagrin, it was a while ago disrupted by the digging of trenches to connect with the wind turbines higher on the hill. It is nevertheless a very pretty wine with ample crunchy red fruit.

Neal Martin 87-89/100

The 2022 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Nanbartons 1er Cru, completely destemmed, has a pretty nose with perfumed strawberry and Morello aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with a peppery entry, fleshy on the mid-palate with a gently caressing, rounded finish. Drink this after a couple of years.

Rather a dense purple by Buffet standards. Quite intense raspberry fruit, quite powerful with some tannins behind though the fruit will win that battle. Medium plus persistence.

An exuberantly fresh and very pinot-like nose reflects mostly scents of various red berries and humus-inflected earth, along with a floral top note. I very much like the texture of the sappy and delicious medium-bodied flavours that possess good energy on the balanced and sneaky long finish. This needs to develop more depth to merit the upper end of my projected range so a few years of keeping should be helpful.
